UPDATE: As of February 15th, 2015, this little midnight pegasus is sold and will soon be with its new owner. This winged horse is no longer available for purchase, and it can, sadly, never be duplicated exactly. I do, however, intend to make more (and hopefully, better) pegasus (and other animal) sculptures in the near and distant future, Lord willing.

I am in the process of designing and creating little unicorns, pegasi (is that the plural of "pegasus"?), and dragons. I want these to be as cute as possible, and as small as I can comfortably make them. This is, and evermore shall be, the only little pegasus like it in the world. (I.e., no molds or casts were used in the creation of this piece, nor were any molds or casts made from this piece.) With each little sculpture I make, I try to improve upon my previous sculptures. This was the second Pegasus I made—the first looked great until it went into the oven, then the heat melted it just right so that it leaned stupidly until it fell over. As such, that Pegasus was not worthy to be uploaded, displayed, or sold, and it is chalked up to experience. But, having learned from my first Pegasus-dud, I made this one with a much sturdier pose so that it stands nice and proud.

I love the icy-blue mane and tail. All those curls took a while, but they were worth it.

This little critter measures no more than about 3 inches in any given direction (except, perhaps, diagonally, which might be a milometer or two over the 3-inch mark). It's made almost exclusively of coloured, pearlescent polymer clay--only the eyes are made of faux pearls. No paint was used to colour this sculpture, nor was any foil filler or wire armature used. My signature is on the bottom of one of its hooves.

This took about 4&1/2 hours to sculpt, using about half an ounce of dark blue clay. I worked on this (plus 2 other small sculptures) through the night between August 29th and August 30th 2014. But now, nearing the end of January 2015, is the first time I've ever shown it publicly or put photos of it online. After many failed photo-shoots over the past few months (during which it was impossible to get satisfactory lighting on such a dark-coloured piece of art), I have FINALLY gotten photos that are good enough to upload online!
