Description

UPDATE: Sold Sunday, December 21st, 2014

Though the bidding for this unicorn sculpture has ended and she has been sold, I still have some other totally original OOAK sculptures available for purchase &/or bid at eBay. So if you'd like to keep up with my eBay sales and auctions, I welcome you to follow me there: www.ebay.com/usr/shieldoflinde…

This is the very first piece of art that I have ever sold via the internet. (I've sold art in person, I've listed art available for sale online, and I've sold other items online, but I've never before actually sold a piece of art online.) Praise the Lord!!! It is He Who gives all artists their talent, and inspiration, and ability, and success, etc. So I'm thankful to Him.

I am so excited. It's hard to say goodbye to this pretty little unicorn, as she did turn out very cute (I think, but as her creator, I'm biased), but it's also heart-warming to think of her going to a new home where she will be much loved.

Soli Deo Gloria!!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am in the process of designing and creating little unicorns, pegasi (is that the plural of "pegasus"?), and dragons. I want these to be as cute as possible, and as small as I can comfortably make them. This is, and evermore shall be, the only little unicorn like it in the world. (I.e., no molds or casts were used in the creation of this piece, nor were any molds or casts made from this piece.) While I plan to continue sculpting new little unicorns, my sincere hope--only by any grace God grants me through any talent He cultivates in me--is that I will continue to hone my skills and keep redesigning unicorns, making them more and more into the fantastic species I imagine them to be--not merely a horse with a horn, but something much more strange, more hard to classify or relate to any one animal. All that to say that, even if I make dozens or hundreds of little polymer unicorns in the future, each one will be distinctive from all the others.
I love working small. This little critter measures no more than about 3 inches in any given direction (except, perhaps, diagonally, which might be a milometer or two over the 3-inch mark). It's made almost exclusively of coloured, pearlescent polymer clay--only the eyes are made of onyx. No paint was used to colour this sculpture, nor was any foil filler or wire armature used. My signature is on the bottom of one of its hooves.
This took about 2&1/2 hours to sculpt, using about half an ounce of light blue clay. I worked on this (plus 2 other small sculptures) through the night between August 28th and August 29th 2014. December 2014 is the first time I've shown it publicly or put photos of it online.
